Remnants

This ongoing photography project explores the human traces left behind by migrants navigating the Balkan Route.

In Bihać, Bosnia, near the Croatian border, makeshift camps and discarded belongings reflect the conditions of migrants attempting to enter the European Union. Further south, in Subotica, Serbia, abandoned houses provide temporary shelter for those in transit. Objects left behind—torn shoes, blankets, and cooking tools—offer a glimpse into the daily lives of people on the move.

This project seeks to humanize migration by documenting these ephemeral spaces and highlighting the balance between hope and displacement.

The migration crisis across the Balkans continues to shape lives and communities. If this project resonates with your organization’s mission or journalistic interests, I’d love to collaborate on amplifying these stories. For inquiries, please contact me at radmilavankoska@gmail.com.
